The Recommended Workflow

Create a perfect cover in 3 major steps.

The A to Z process:

    Use your favorite design tool to create your front and back covers. This is the artistic step!

    Assembly & Compliance (GabaritKDP)

    Import your images into our 'Visual Assembler'. We calculate the spine, add the bleed, and guarantee perfect dimensions.

    Export & Publishing (KDP)

    Upload the 300 DPI PDF generated by GabaritKDP directly to Amazon. Zero errors, zero rejections.

Using the Visual Assembler

Step-by-step guide to the GabaritKDP interface.

🎯 Configuration and Assembly:

📋 Step 1: Book Settings

  • Choose the KDP format (e.g., 6x9''), page count, and paper type.
  • Check 'Bleed' if your images need to go to the very edge.

🖼️ Step 2: Upload Images

  • Option A - Separate images: Upload front, back and spine separately.
  • Option B - Full Cover: Upload a complete full cover (single image file) and adjust it if needed.
  • Repositioning: Click on an image to move and zoom it (50%-300%).

✍️ Step 2.5: Cover Text (Optional)

  • Title & Author: Add them directly with 20+ Google Fonts.
  • Back cover: Description text for the book's back.
  • Barcode zone: Enable the reserved space for Amazon barcode.
  • Drag & Drop: Drag text on the preview to position it.

🎨 Step 2.6: Backgrounds & Textures (Optional)

  • Background color: Choose a color for the back or full cover.
  • Textures: Apply procedural textures (noise, grid, gradient...).
  • Filters: Sepia, black & white, vintage and more.

GabaritKDP is a finalization tool. For best results, create your visuals elsewhere, then assemble them here for final compliance.

⚙️ Step 3: Verification and Export

  • Check the 4K preview and ensure all text is within the safety margins (red lines).
  • Check the 'Smart Analysis' for any potential warnings.
  • Choose export quality: Standard (300 DPI), 4K (400 DPI) or 8K (600 DPI).
  • Click 'Export Design' to get your KDP-ready PDF.

✅ Result: You get a single, perfectly dimensioned PDF file, ready to be uploaded to Amazon.
